High Commissioner Mbabazi Pays Courtesy Call on Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Defence
Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Rosemary Mbabazi, on Wednesday December 3, 2025 has paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Defence, Honourable Ernest Brogya Genfi, at the Ministry of Defence in Accra.
During the meeting, High Commissioner Mbabazi conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Government of Rwanda for the tragic helicopter crash that occurred in August, expressing solidarity with the families of the fallen officers and with the people of Ghana during this difficult period.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the importance of continued partnership in defence and security. They discussed ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including peacekeeping, military capacity-building, and regional security coordination.
High Commissioner Mbabazi also highlighted the long-standing and historic ties between Rwanda and Ghana. She expressed Rwanda’s enduring gratitude for Ghana’s principled stance during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, noting that Ghana was among the few nations that refused to withdraw its contingent under the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR).
She underscored that this act of solidarity remains an important symbol of friendship and shared values between the two countries.
Hon. Brogya Genfi welcomed the High Commissioner and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to maintaining strong and productive relations with Rwanda. He commended the growing cooperation between the two nations and expressed readiness to explore new avenues to enhance defence ties.
