High Commissioner presents copies of her letters of credence to Togo’s Foreign Minister …Meets Rwandan Community in Lomé among other strategic engagements
The High Commissioner of Rwanda to Togo, H.E. Rosemary Mbabazi, who is resident in Ghana, on Monday November 18, 2024 presented copies of her letters of credence to Togo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Abroad, H.E Professor Robert Dussey, in a formal ceremony held at the Ministry's headquarters in Lomé, Togo.
The presentation marked an important milestone in Rwanda-Togo diplomatic relations.
In her remarks, High Commissioner Mbabazi conveyed Rwanda’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Togo, focusing on areas such as trade, tourism, and regional security.
Minister Dussey, in response, welcomed the appointment, emphasizing the significance of enhancing cooperation between the two nations, particularly in sectors that contribute to mutual growth and development.
He commended Rwanda for its impressive progress in various sectors, particularly its role in promoting peace and stability across Africa.
The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss broader regional and continental issues, with both diplomats underscoring the importance of furthering African unity and integration.
After the presentation ceremony, High Commissioner Rosemary Mbabazi engaged with the Rwandan community in Togo in a warm meeting in Lomé.
The meeting was an opportunity to issues of interest to the Rwandan diaspora including access to consular services, community welfare and how to strengthen cultural connection to their homeland.
During the interaction, High Commissioner Mbabazi commended the values of unity and hard work that define Rwandans living in Togo which contributes to Rwanda’s good image. She charged them to continue being good representatives of their country and its aspirations.
While in Togo, High Commissioner Mbabazi paid a courtesy call on the United Nation’s Resident Coordinator, Ms. Coumba D. Sow to explore areas of mutual interest for Rwanda and Togo including youth empowerment and green growth.
She also called on the Minister of Public Service Reform, Labor and Social Dialogue of the Togolese Republic, Hon. Gilbert Bawara who encouraged deeper cooperation.
