President Kagame attends investiture of Ghana’s new president
The President of Rwanda, H.E. Paul Kagame on Tuesday January 7, 2025, led a Rwandan delegation to the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of Ghana’s new President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, which marked a significant moment in Ghana’s political landscape, with Mahama returning to office for the second time following peaceful election.
President Kagame was among 19 Heads of State, three Vice Presidents, four Ministers and 24 envoys from Africa and across the world who attended the swearing in ceremony of Ghana’s new president and Vice-President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the country’s first female Vice-President.
He was accompanied to the ceremony at the Black Star Square in Ghana’s capital, Accra by Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe as well as the High Commissioner of Rwanda to Ghana, H.E Rosemary Mbabazi.
Their presence at the ceremony underscored the strong and growing diplomatic relations between Rwanda and Ghana.
The two nations have enjoyed a cordial relations which have deepened over the recent years with the establishment of resident High Commissions in their respective capitals and a commitment to enhancing cooperation in areas including trade and investment, security, education, tourism and development.
Following President Mahama’s victory in Ghana’s December 7, 2024 elections, President Kagame was among the first leaders to congratulate President Mahama, expressing his commitment to working together to strengthen the bilateral ties between Rwanda and Ghana and advance the vision of a prosperous Africa.
