High Commissioner Mbabazi Joins RwandAir Ghana Team for Pink Walk to Raise Awareness of Breast Cancer
High Commissioner Rosemary Mbabazi, on Saturday joined the RwandAir Ghana team for a Pink Walk in Accra to mark Pink October and raise awareness of breast cancer.
The walk brought together RwandAir staff and partners in support of the global campaign, which encourages early detection and highlights the importance of regular screening.
Speaking after the aerobics session, High Commissioner Mbabazi thanked the RwandAir team and other partners for organising the activity. She encouraged everyone to get checked for breast cancer and to take their health seriously.
She said the initiative is important in creating the awareness that is needed, especially among women, but also among men, who are fathers, brothers and, in future, grandfathers, and who have a role in supporting one another in the cause.
The High Commissioner noted that a lack of information on the continent often means the disease is detected at late stages, when it becomes very difficult to treat.
“Information is power,” she stated.

Sharing Rwanda’s experience, she said the country has prioritised awareness creation, reaching communities, schools and other places where large numbers of people gather, so that citizens have the information they need to act early.
She added that awareness is matched by access to care. Rwanda has specialised hospitals that treat cancer patients, with a focus on early treatment to increase the number of survivors. Screening and detection services are also integrated into local hospitals, bringing them closer to communities.
High Commissioner Mbabazi reiterated that health is wealth, and called on all participants to make regular check-ups a priority.
The Pink Walk formed part of activities marking Pink October, observed globally to promote breast cancer awareness, early detection and support for those affected by the disease.
