Ms. Mamatta acquires Rwandan citizenship
Ms. Noblet Lucia Georgette Mamatta, a Ghanaian and Belgian citizen, has officially been granted Rwandan citizenship following a moving ceremony at the Rwanda High Commission in Accra.
Her grant of citizenship was formally published in the official Rwandan gazette on November 7, 2024, and the ceremony took place amidst a gathering of her close family and friends.
Ms. Mamatta took the oath of nationality in a solemn event that marked her formal inclusion into the Rwandan family.
During the ceremony, Her Excellency Rosemary Mbabazi, the High Commissioner of Rwanda to Ghana, warmly welcomed Ms. Mamatta into the larger Rwandan family and presented her with the official certificate of citizenship.
In her address, High Commissioner Mbabazi spoke of the core Rwandan values- unity, hard work, patriotism, integrity, and accountability- that define the nation's spirit. She emphasized how these values are vital to Rwanda’s continued success and encouraged Ms. Mamatta to actively participate in diaspora activities, contributing to Rwanda's aspirations for growth and development.
“The Rwandan values you are now part of are what have driven our nation forward—unity and resilience in the face of challenges,” said High Commissioner Mbabazi. “We are delighted to have you join us and look forward to seeing you contribute to Rwanda’s journey toward progress and prosperity.”
Ms. Mamatta expressed her gratitude and excitement at becoming a Rwandan citizen, reaffirming her commitment to supporting the country’s vision.
As part of her new status, Ms. Mamatta joins a growing number of global citizens who have chosen Rwanda as their second home, drawn by its dynamic socio-economic environment, emphasis on gender equality, and its rapidly developing economy.
The ceremony was a heartfelt occasion for Ms. Mamatta, her family, and the Rwandan High Commission, symbolizing the strengthening of ties between Rwanda and its diaspora communities. Her mother, who had previously lived in Rwanda in the 1980s, shared how the country’s positive transformation over the years has left a lasting impression on her family.
