Rwanda Participates in Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the African Political Alliance in Lomé
The High Commissioner Rosemary Mbabazi participates in the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the African Political Alliance in Lomé, Togo on July 3rd representing Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, President of the Council of Ministers of the Togolese Republic, and H.E. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, opened the meeting where Ministers and senior officials from across the continent met to discuss the wide-ranging impacts of the Middle East crisis on Africa.
Delegates exchanged views on the economic, political and security implications of the crisis for African countries, and on how the continent can respond together to the pressures of global instability.
In Rwanda’s statement, High Commissioner Mbabazi said recent geopolitical shocks are a reminder of the need for foresight and unity.
“These shocks remind us that resilience is not merely about responding to crises; it is about anticipating them, investing in strategic capabilities, and deepening African cooperation,” she stated.
She said Rwanda remains committed to working with fellow African states to strengthen cooperation, promote shared solutions, and safeguard the continent’s long-term stability and development in an uncertain global environment.
The meeting gave African leaders and partners a chance to compare perspectives and consider practical steps towards a coordinated continental response to the crisis.
