Yanick Camerman Alain José Swears Oath of Rwandan Citizenship in Accra
In a deeply emotional moment, Mr. Yanick Camerman Alain José, originally from Belgium, on Wednesday 26th February, 2025 took the oath of Rwandan citizenship, officially becoming a member of the Rwandan family.
The ceremony, held at the Rwanda High Commission in Ghana’s capital, Accra, is a significant milestone in Mr. Camerman’s life journey and his connection to Rwanda. The naturalization was published in the Official Gazette of Rwanda on November 7, 2024, granting him Rwandan nationality.
Mr. Camerman, who was born in Rwanda, has long had strong ties to the country, having lived and worked there for many years. His decision to formally embrace Rwandan citizenship is the culmination of a personal dream. “This is a dream come true,” said Mr. Camerman, visibly moved as he spoke to those in attendance.
Accompanied by his wife and children, he swore an oath to uphold the values and principles of Rwanda, solidifying his deep-rooted commitment to the nation.
The ceremony, a powerful symbol of Rwanda’s inclusive spirit, was attended by Rwandan diplomats and Rwandan community leaders in Ghana.
During her remarks, Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Rosemary Mbabazi, welcomed Mr. Camerman into the Rwandan family and underscored Rwanda’s dedication to partnership and unity.
She highlighted the foundational values of the Rwandan identity, emphasizing hard work, patriotism, integrity, and accountability as key pillars that define the nation's progress and success.
For Mr. Camerman, this event represents not just the legal acquisition of citizenship, but the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. His story serves as a reminder of the enduring bond between Rwanda and its global citizens, one that transcends borders and is rooted in shared values.
