High Commissioner Mbabazi Delivers Opening Remarks at Africa AI Stakeholder Meeting in Accra
High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Ghana, H.E. Rosemary Mbabazi, delivered the opening remarks at the second edition of the Africa AI Stakeholder Meeting, held in Accra on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
The event, convened by the Rwanda-founded Certa Foundation, brought together AI creators, policymakers, and regulators from over ten African countries for two days of dialogue, collaboration, and strategic planning around the continent’s future in artificial intelligence.
In her address, High Commissioner Mbabazi welcomed delegates to the gathering and highlighted the critical importance of African leadership in shaping the trajectory of AI development on the continent.
Reflecting on the vision of H.E. President Paul Kagame, as expressed during the Africa AI Summit held earlier this year in Kigali, she emphasized that Africa must not sit back as a passive observer in the current technological revolution.
High Commissioner Mbabazi called on stakeholders to work collaboratively across borders and sectors to build inclusive and forward-looking AI ecosystems that serve Africa’s development priorities.
The Africa AI Stakeholder Meeting serves as a strategic platform to foster partnerships between governments, private sector players, academia, and civil society, ensuring that the development and regulation of AI technologies reflect African values, needs, and potential.
The two-day event featured panel discussions, keynote addresses and working sessions focused on innovation, governance, and capacity building in AI across the continent.
