High Commissioner Mbabazi Participates in the 2nd Lomé Peace & Security Forum
High Commissioner Rosemary Mbabazi, who is accredited to the Republic of Togo, participated in the 2nd edition of the Lomé Peace & Security Forum (LPSF2025), held from October 11–12 in Lomé, Togo.
The forum brought together African leaders, policymakers, security experts, and youth to deliberate on the theme: “Africa Facing Complex Security Challenges: How to Build and Consolidate Peace and Stability in a Changing World.”
Hosted by the President of the Republic of Togo, H.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, the high-level forum was officially opened in the presence of notable dignitaries, including H.E. Joseph Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia, and H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria.
The event attracted broad participation from across Africa - notably from West, Central, East, and Southern Africa - reinforcing the forum’s continental importance.
High Commissioner Mbabazi joined discussions aimed at identifying practical pathways toward building resilient peace and security mechanisms across Africa.
The forum emphasized the critical role of strong, people-centered governance and inclusive development in addressing the continent’s evolving security landscape.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, Togo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Professor Robert Dussey, highlighted the forum’s unique character as a platform for both peace professionals and the continent’s youth.
“The Lomé Peace and Security Forum is a meeting of peace professionals and youth. That is why we hope to see you involved with strong commitment to cancel and eradicate instability and insecurity in Africa,” he said.
The forum concluded on an optimistic note, with renewed determination among participants to work together to safeguard Africa’s peace, promote inclusive governance, and strengthen the continent’s collective security architecture.
