Prime Minister Nsengiyumva Attends Côte d’Ivoire Presidential Inauguration, Conveys Message from President Kagame
Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva joined Heads of State and Government from across Africa in Abidjan for the inauguration and swearing-in of Côte d’Ivoire’s President Alassane Ouattara, following his re-election on 25 October 2025.
The ceremony, held at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan, brought together leaders and high-level delegations to witness President Ouattara take the oath of office for his fourth five-year term. Prime Minister Nsengiyumva was accompanied by Rwanda’s Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Rosemary Mbabazi.
During the swearing-in, President Ouattara reaffirmed his commitment to serving all Ivorians, vowing to uphold the Constitution, protect citizens’ rights and freedoms, and govern in the supreme interest of the nation. He highlighted Côte d’Ivoire’s progress over the past 15 years—including strengthened state institutions, consolidated peace, and sustained economic development—while acknowledging ongoing challenges such as terrorism, cyber threats, and food security.
President Ouattara outlined his vision for the next five years, emphasizing economic transformation, industrial efficiency, private-sector competitiveness, and modern infrastructure in energy, transport, and digital services. He reiterated his ambition to position Côte d’Ivoire as a continental energy hub and to prioritize youth and women’s empowerment.
Following the inauguration, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva held a bilateral meeting with President Ouattara, during which he delivered a special message from President Paul Kagame. The meeting underscored the continued strength of Rwanda–Côte d’Ivoire relations and the two countries’ shared commitment to deepening cooperation across sectors.
The Government of Rwanda congratulates President Ouattara on his re-election and looks forward to further advancing the partnership between Rwanda and Côte d’Ivoire for the benefit of both nations.
